Around The Way

  • Chauncey Billups withdrew his name for consideration from the Beijing Olympics citing "family reasons." Could this be a move to save face because of the recent talk he wouldn't have made the cut in favor of Chris Paul?
  • Ex-Sportscenter anchor can't remember Chauncey Billups is a Piston. Thanks to T.J. for the link.
  • Congrats to the Celtics for winning it all even if some people are a little upset about their Celebratory actions before and after they won. I have to point it out, but everyone seems to be quick to talk about Detroit and rioting when Championships are won. Boston had their own brand of fun last night...Boston style.

WOW..way to celebrate boston, ruin ur city that u rep till u die, ur team jus won lets ruin some hard workin americans store..peices of shit...

also im listenin to 97.1 the ticket.. (since 1130 wdfn sucks)..

The big rumor out there is 2 solid trades that will put the pistons on top once again and make boston shit their pants.

John Hammond is with the bucks now and would love to have a piston over there. So it is extremely possible to trade rip straight up or throw in a draft pick for Michael Redd.

Now go ahead and do the Mcgrady or Melo trade. and get rid of chauncey and gayshaun for either of those 2..

Look at ur starting 5 its sickening..

Stuckey
Redd
Melo/Mcgrady
Sheed
Dyess

Maxiell
Afflalo
Amir

DO IT JOE! bring back some flash to the D!

Steve... I think thats a great move but Maxiell will prob start at center(like ben did) nd if doesnt i think he might wanna b traded. He deserves 2 start.Bring in T-MAC bcuz melo doesnt work well with other stars nd plus he is veryyy hungry nd those boston fans have no class

Why is everyone in such a hurry to trade Billups?

I'm not saying I don't see the logic, but you are fooling yourself if you think that Stuckey is ready to take over the point. He's not. He might be in two years. I actually think the likely candidates for a trade are Rip and Tay. Rip because he's a proven scorer, but his weakness is he's too dependent on the office being built around him and those screens. Tay because he plays small forward. Nothing beyond that. Everyone who thinks Billups is out the door because Stuckey did some minor damage in limited action in the playoffs is fooling themselves.

Jack, cuz chauncey has the most value on the team to recieve a Genuine allstar along with tayshaun, stuckey will be the future.. chauncey is the most tradable. Hes on the decline on his career and we need to strike while the iron is hot, we need an allstar to compete with boston, cleveland ect. we need that 1 guy to go to in the end, cuz we dont have it. Mr.big shot? i seen him miss more clutch shots than he made, im not sayin he didnt make his big shots, but we need that go to guy which is why we lose most of the games we lost that came down to the wire.. im all for it, stuckey is ready expecially if we get an allstar to carry him and make him better. Ur jus one of those people who dont wanna see this team go which is understandable but grow up, our run is over we need a change.

here's an idea. lets get someone that ISN'T problematic or chronically injured.

how bout Golden State... they got tons of talent in Baron Davis, Jackson, Biedrins... etc.

Still pulling for Boozer or Elton Brand.

maybe if denver was on some serious dope this could just go down:
-Chauncey, Tay, and #29 for Mello and Camby
After that, i say you send Rip and Antonio and maybe another player to the Rockets for McGrady

Your then looking at:
Stuckey
Mcgrady
Mello
Sheed
Camby
Championship right there? only problem may be in the locker room where the case of a chemistry blowup may occur.

that is a big all star line up wapmak27. I suppose that could TECHNICALLY happen but I will bet against it. Im just waiting for Joe to make a move. This team is great but I feel that the core needs to be broken up. GO PISTONS 2009 CHAMPS!

This trade would be sick and I would be all for it. Only problem is, no more Sheed. And I will be the first to admit, I am a Sheed/Dyess fanboy to the core, so it would hurt to see him go, however, Nat says it best There will always always always be a Need 4 Sheed! Alas,The Pistons also need a Spark to win another 'ship (damn, that would have been a good headline had Laimbeer actually gotten the coaching job, I should be a sports writer)

Anyway check it -

An exchange of Anthony, Marcus Camby, Kenyon Martin and Chucky Atkins for Billups, Tayshaun Prince, Rasheed Wallace and Detroit's first-round pick (29th) makes the most sense (and dollars under the cap for the Nuggets) and is scary-good for both teams..."

Nope, I didn't come up with this scenario, but Denver writer reporter Woody Paige did and you can check out the link. Go Joe! Make the moves, let the Celts know their time is up!

It sounded in the article like Chauncey really wanted to get a gold medal--I know this is kinda gossipy, but I wonder what his "personal family issues" are. It seems like he's used this explanation before. Almost like there's a ongoing problem.

I wonder if his "personal family issues" are part of his distraction on the court, or why it doesn't look like he's having near as much fun as he used to out there. I remember when he first started commanding the court and making big shot after big shot. He seemed high on life and full of confidence. Not the same lately. :( I think it's obvious something is weighing on him. I realize it's none of my business. Just an observation.
