2008 Detroit Pistons Season Ending Video - Simplicity

The Pistons Season Wrap up on myTV20 Detroit closed with a very fitting video set to the song Simplicity, a song inspired by the Pistons by season ticket holder Bob Seger. It's a great recap of the season with a bevy of the year's best plays and well as what may be a final farewell to those we have come to adore.

Thanks for the memories boys...it was a hell of a run.
June 2008 Joe Dumars Press Conference
I used this specific screen cap for the video because I was very close to this when it happened and thought Rasheed searching out the 2004 Trophy and touching it before the first game of the Playoffs started was a sign of good things to come.

I have been know to be wrong on many occasions, too bad this was one of them.

The ending was beautiful! I love the way RIP did that :)

Now Ive seen Maxiell's dance but never Stuckey's. That was hilarity indeed!

Despite the season ending short it was still memorable nontheless.

I love these boys and would hate to see any of them go. Bring on 2008-2009 already!

stuckey's dance was cute, but not parker/longoria cute. it was hilarious. i know, theres so many trade talks going on around our team and i just can't help it, thinking about our team's future...whenever i think about trade, i use the espn trade machine...what u guys think of this starting line-up,

dyess c
stoudemire pf
marion sf
tmac sg
stuck pg

i think pf, sf and sg are all upgraded to our previous starting line up, c is the same, pg could be an upgrade assuming continuous development. my only concern with this line up, how well they perform in the half court offense, but considering we have guards who can create his own shot and a power forward, shouldn't be a problem. by the way, it seems like salary cap shouldn't be an issue as well. what'd u guys think?

No offense ric, but that will never happen. I will seriously miss this core. I don't even know if I care about a championship anymore. I want our boys to play together and win one that way, not just sell our players to win with a different core, I just love this current team, and do not want to see it go. It will feel like a death in the family, never seeing the guys together again.

no offense taken xxxrip, i myself would love to see our boys play together again, but i just can't live in denial, its inevitable that at least 2 core players would be gone, i would bet on that, as much as i don't want to, it will happen.

I was just thinking about how some things are inevitable. We had the second best record in the NBA, and unfortunately for us, the best record was in the Eastern Conference. In some ways, the outcome was inevitable even before the playoffs began. It was hard to lose, but I can accept it. What will be harder will be to lose one or two of these guys. What a freakin great cast of characters we have for our team. No one else could say that. GO PISTONS IN 08-09!!!!

Ric: that wouldnt happen. Although Amare matches some of our salaries, he is not very likely to be traded. ONe look at his statline is enough to tell you his trade value. He's a promising young Big Man and is going to be right around with Dwight and oden as the elite big men of the next generation. Marion is a possibility and so is T-Mac (I WANT T-MAC) but, Amare might be a little too much to wish for.

Lead us from the fire Joe

i personally would not want T-Mac. He is a very good player but he isn't very dependable. He always gets injured for long stretches. He also has never made it out of the first round.

steve, some people are just content with the team right now, and i understand that, maybe including me, that its kinda' hard to accept after the "good enough" run with 1 champ to show for...but at the same time, im with joe d. he gave these guys a few chances and didn't get it done. would i love for the core to stay? sure why not. would they get to the finals if they stay together? don't know anymore. 3 straight years of the conference finals with the evident of not playing with the sense of urgency is whats disturbing with this core. its becoming consistent, year after year...well, i think joe's always looking on how to improve the team, regardless, and thats good thing..by the way, heres my take on ur ideal players trade.

melo -- good offense, no defense
stoud -- thumbs up
brand -- good off/def, achiles injury is risky
marion/tmac -- thumbs up
davis -- good off/def character problem

also, the core played great, including defense...but the way the officiating has changed from 2004 during our champs run, we can't play like that anymore...we gotta have someone whos a surgeon on slashing and creating shots AND the benefit of the doubt towards the official. u have to adjust in this league, the league isn't gonna adjust for you.

Please Joe get us T-Mac that would be so awesome. Trade Sheed and Rip for Tracy and Luther head, as one of you suggested some days ago. Just think about it we would definatly be favorites to get to the finals again and with desperate to get out of the first round magrady we would get back to the promise land. Here is a little preview of what could be.

Smooth
T-MAC
Palace Prince
J-Max
Macdyss

Bench- Stuck/Showtime at the afflalo/Dixon/Fabio/Rattler/CDR or Chris Douglas Roberts [if we move up somehow in the draft]Cheik Samb/Luther Head[who we would get in the T-Mac trade] and Amirzing

Now that is a deep team with alot of hunger and size. Get it done Joe

6:09 PM, June 06, 2008
Blogger ric said...

that starting 5 looks pretty interesting to watch, but 3 out of 5 are inconsistent on scoring namely max and dyess...prince is the 3rd one to be inconsistent deep in the playoffs. we can't trade sheed and rip and getting just one shooting guard....heres my ideal trade, possibilities

prince/rip -- tmac
OR/AND
sheed -- stoudamire
OR/AND
marion -- (free agent)

starting:
chaunce/stuck pg
tmac sg
marion sf
stoudamire pf
dyess c

reserve:
amir
samb
max
afflalo

guys, don't take it personally, people who talk about the trade doesn't necessarily mean we don't like the core we have, sometimes its just fun to talk about it, like mock draft....im sure none of u guys want to talk about the finals! or do u?

I'm just afraid T-Mac is too injury-prone. It's not like he only sprains his ankle or something, every time he goes down, he takes like weeks to get healthy again. I know Arnie is awesome and all, but it's still pretty risky.

Beside, I feel that we should keep our backcourt of Rip and Chauncey. They work well together and they get the job done efficiently. Why fix something that's not broken?

8:54 PM, June 06, 2008
Blogger ric said...

claire, nothing is really broken, but is it enough to make a championship run? the purpose of it is imrovement or upgrade....is tmac an upgrade over rip? is stoudemire an upgrade over sheed? is marion an upgrade over prince? or is there anybody else an upgrade of who?

10:07 PM, June 06, 2008
Blogger Dominic said...

Ric Phoenix will never trade Sheed for Amare straight up. IT will have to be in a package of Rip and Sheed or Tay and SHeed or something like that. Detroit will probably give up some draft picks as well. And we don't have enough cap space to sign Shawn Marion the MLE is 5.35 Mil I believe Shawn wants around 8-10 mil

I mac is alway out due to his back, I do not think that he will fit in with the pistons, I like his game but his track recond is not very good, he can't make it pass the first round now that is one bad luck I would not want to see on the pistons, there is not much we can do only wish, I myself feel that this current team is good, we started to build the bench and one more year I we will have to whole thing, if they don;t do it next yr I say change things but they did make it 6 times to the ECF and besides last season they played hard but the better team won, I know the pistons could have won the ECF this year if game 3 and 5 had of been a little different but Boston made there team for a shot and where will they be after contracts back where they started rebuilding, the pistons like the spurs are there, they are a good team and they make it to the ecf for 6 years and I know if the core stays they will be there next yr. I am not a han of boilding a team on superstars it works yes as we see in boston but only for so long..

11:30 PM, June 06, 2008
Blogger ric said...

jessi i agree everything you say, except a little blurry on the "work hard" part....that may not be completely true, especially during the regular season, which is normal, but you can't have that in the ecf. i completely agree with joe d when he talked about the lack of urgency in game 3 at home after the win in game 2. also, game 6 meltdown, you know it, everybody knows it...other than joe's analysis, its also the league's officiating for past years, like i said, u have to make some adjustment during the course of the change of the league, because the league won't adjust for your team.....don't you guys notice, this players and their team are competing coz of their great standing as a player and got their team in a good position along with the credit from the officiating of the game....
kobe - lakers are in finals
james - clevs are in finals last year
garnett - celts are in finals

offcourse you gotta work hard as well and show no complacency, which makes your team not just a one man team.....haven't we learned from last year when james scored a bunch of point in the 4th quarter, other than pistons' meltdown, they couldn't really do any of their defense style coz james was not just carrying his team but giving the refs the benefit of the doubt. im also not saying get a star like james, kobe or garnett, but get a guy who lives in creating his own shot with a high percent shooter.

there are all these downs that comes with tmac....but isn't that a lot of fan said about few of the core, hamilton (for stackhouse), sheed's technical probs, and tay's strength and body size......with tmac there are the injuries, which i understand is risky and i support anyone with the same thought....but the fact that he never made it out of first round is not a reason to not get him.....its hard for me to question this guy's passion for getting pass the second round and his passion that we saw during their 22 straight games win, if you think that was a luck, you gotta be delusional......what about kg, how many times did he go to the playoffs before going to boston????? thats suppose to be a bad luck too, right? but the important thing about someone is their passion and character to win...winning 22 straight games and the motivation of getting over the 1st round is pretty inspiring and passionate.

Steve,

I would hate to see any of them go but that doesnt mean I wont accept it (eventually) or dont understand why they should. I completely agree with what you said. I also agree that there NEEDS to be a change. I dont agree with xXxRiPHammyxXx. I WANT A CHAMPIONSHIP! That means more to me than keeping this team together. I love them and all but I dont think there is any better feeling than your favorite team winning that ship.

I'm watching the finals right now, it's game 6 at the half, and I have to say, I'm happy for Paul Pierce. He's almost like the Dyess of the Celtics. He's sincere, he's had a hard road, he admits that he doesn't know how many more chances he'll have, and it's his first ring.
