Payback at The Palace

It looked like The Pistons were going to have another battle on their hands Friday night at The Palace against The Bucks. Both teams offense was flowing and the first quarter ended with a 2 point Milwaukee lead, but The Pistons buckled down in the second allowing The Bucks to score just 11 points on the way to a convincing 127-100 win for Detroit.

Key Points:
  • Started off looking like it was going to be a dogfight, but the Pistons put pressure on the Bucks early in the second quarter and they folded.
  • If you asked me to sum up what stuck out in one word it would have to be Amirzing!
  • Antonio McDyess is this seasons unsung hero, he eats up the boards scores when he has to and does it so quietly that it's barely noticeable. McDiggity had 7 boards, 1 block, 1 steal and 15 points in 25 minutes. And his reverse jam was a nice topper to the night for him.
  • The Palace crowd gave new Pistons Juan Dixon a might big hand, and so did the Pistons in their pre-game hi jinx. Rip really took it to him in the tunnel during his boxing warm ups. It was hilarious.
  • Did anyone catch all the noise Sheed was making last night on court? I love it when he basically told Andrew Bogut not to bring that s%&$ in here after he blocked his shot.
  • First time I can remember that Rasheed stepped to the line to take technical foul shots himself (especially since Billups was on court at the time). Sheed sank four in a row, 2 TF shots and 2 for a personal foul.
  • Mr. Big Shot led The Pistons with a double-double. Chauncey had 21 with 12 assists, a blocked shot and 2 boards, not to mention 2 fantastic behind the back passes for buckets.

  • Amir Johnson was the key to starting the Pistons domination in the second quarter. I am loving his minutes and love it even more when he's on the floor with Sheed, especially when it results in a double team BLOCK.
  • I noticed Chauncey on the bench with his arm wrapped up with ice. Can someone let me know what they said about it on the broadcast and if we should be worried?
  • NBA.com Highlights of The Game.
  • Sheed was throwing towels at a couple of guys who spilled their drinks courtside. Gotta love RA.
  • Everybody loves Walter.
  • Six Pistons in double figures, all the starters plus stud Amir Johnson.
  • It's the Amir show here at Need4Sheed today with a fast break Jam.

  • A putback make and with "Count That Baby" to finish.

  • Amir, 13 points on 6-for-7 shooting with 2 steals, 2 blocks, 3 assists and 6 boards in just 22 minutes.
  • Rebound war won 42-32.
  • Juan Dixon scores his first Pistons points.
  • The Zoo Crew did a heck of a job Friday night though they did have a tough time in the middle of the fourth quarter trying to hold on to the big lead. The problem they seem to have is when they are in the game for long stretches together they give up baskets without scoring. Flip put an end to it last night by calling a time out after the Bucks bench went on a 10 point tear, but fortunately the time out helped. The result was a Maxiell dunk.
  • Fun game to be at The Palace.
  • Rip and Tayshaun each did their parts at certain points in the game. They looked great out there against the Bucks and if Friday night's game was any indication, they're back.
  • Sheed was an offensive and defensive beast last night. When he wasn't trash talking on court last night he was scoring 17 points with 2 blocked shots, 6 boards and a steal.

  • Most points scored by the Pistons all year. Honestly I felt like the game was over after the third quarter, I almost got up to leave.
  • The Walter Herrmann jam to end the game was HUGE for the crowd.
  • Solid play again from Arron Afflalo.
  • Maxie had a few nice jams that always get the crowd going.
  • It was confirmed by Piston fan and Team Need4Sheed member David Plastrik, who was at the Pistons game in Milwaukee that Bucks fans were indeed chanting YIIIIIIIIIII when he had the ball.
  • "I thought Amir had a flawless game today," point guard Chauncey Billups said. "He was everywhere, making every play, whether it was either end. He was on the money, and that group in that second quarter really opened the game up for us." Via The Detroit Free Press
  • 46 points in the paint for the Pistons along with 24 fast break points.
  • The Pistons led by as much as 31.
  • Herrmann's hands are HUGE, did you see that one handed grab and pass?
  • Just 6 turnovers for the Pistons.
  • Sheed+Amir=Blowout.
  • Sunday on National TV against The Suns.
  • UPDATE: FLIP MURRAY to the Celtics?

Pistons are one game closer to leading the east! Boston lost their third game in a row last night to the Suns.

Walter Hermann seriously needs to get the chance to prove himself here at the end of the season. Let him cut into Jarvis's minutes a bit and see what he can do. I think hes much more of a Detroit type player with his nonstop hustle and aggresive D. Jarvis is more like a streetballer.

You're not the only one who would rather see Walter out there instead of Jarvis.

looks like boston might sign Flip Murray

Why? Rondos basically the same type of player. And he has more experience and playing time this year. Flip hasn't played in like 3 years.

sheed has been talking a lot of trash all season. he takes his defense serious, and he wants you to know it.
almost as impressive as those hooks amir threw down, were the bangs he gave a couple would be dunkers. he played big and those were some serious knocks.

man, I don't care who's coming in or out of the East anymore, as long as our core is not leaving Detroit. Long live our core!

I really hope Flp doesn't go to Boston. I liked him, and just don't like facing former team mates, especially ones who were dumped by the team.
