With Greg Oden Out, Meet the 2007 - 08 Rookie of The Year Rodney Stuckey

I know, I know everyone thinks Kevin Durant is a lock for Rookie of the Year this upcoming season since Greg Oden's injury, but from how some are talking about Rodney Stuckey I wouldn't be so quick to put my money on Durant.

Stuckey, who averaged 24 points his last two seasons at Eastern Washington had jaws dropping all summer long. After seasons end I have the feeling that Rodney will become the steal of the 2007 NBA Draft. From what I have seen so far, Stuckey has lived up to everything and more, but I don't want to get too far ahead of myself since he hasn't played a regulation NBA game yet. Pistons fans are hopeful that Stuckey is all that and more.

If Rodney actually does win Rookie of The Year Honors he will be in great Pistons company. The only Pistons on the list are:
1994-95 - Grant Hill and
1966-67 - Dave Bing

If all goes well Joe Dumars is going to come out looking like a genius.

why can't we all just get excited for

AMIR JOHNSON

I know Stuckey will be sweet, I'm a die-hard Pistons fan, but he will NOT be rookie of the year. He's not going to get the pt for it. Anyone who thinks so is, well, stupid.

Amir Johnson though, man. that guy is the truth right there. it'll take him a year or two but he will undoubtedly be a starter for us in a few years, and hopefully Stuckey will be there with him.

I am surprised that you would actually call me Stupid for this post.

We all know Stuckey's situation and that it's a long shot at ROTY, but there is no harm in giving the kid some props now is there?

Been hyping up Amir forever, it's time Stuckey got a little time.

I'm leaning for Amir to have a breakout season, but I don't think that this will count as his rookie year. He got into a few games last year.

So if it's a post about what Piston has the best shot at ROTY then Stuckey is your man. No dis to Aaron.

With the way the Pistons have dealt with new talent in the past, I can defiantly see Stuckey not getting enough playing time to be considered for the ROY.

I've had that wallpaper up a while too. In fact, I was showing my girlfriend your site and she recognized it as "the site I get wallpapers from".

Why don't you get over yourself, stop coming to Need4sheed and start your own website, I am sure you will be extremely successful, since you seem to know everything.

this is so cool, man I hope that he is the bomb, we need a spark, and I don't really care where it comes from, if Rodney is going to be the man for the Pistons, let him be the man, you know the guys don't care who gets the glory, I'm soooo excited about the season, for some reason, I have like a weird feeling that the season will be spectacular, I can't wait, I'm jumping in my skin with excitement!!! GO PISTONS GO!!!!!

If Stuckey earns the play time to keep Afflalo and the other guards on the bench, there is no reason to think he can't average around 25 minutes a game--enough to put him in the ROY running.

Do I think he'll be the ROY? No, probably not, but I'm really optimistic that he'll be an amazing draft steal and give us another reason to get excited about the bench.

With Mad Max, Amir Johnson, and Stuckey, joined by a few key vets (and yes, I think Jarvis Hayes is an upgrade for a bench player), maybe even the quick development of Afflalo... I'm really hyped about the coming season :)

Of course, I'm always hyped about the coming Pistons season, even when they don't have so many good reasons to be excited! That's part of being a fan ;p

Great post, Natalie! And yeah, I've been using the Stuckey wallpaper since you put it online! If you get a good photo of him with his face showing, that would be nice, too :) My wife thought it was Billups at first glance ;>

I haven't put any Pistons wallpaper on my computer since last spring. I don't do it 'til it's go time. I don't know why that is, but it's how I do...

I got my Pistons skin for my cell from skinit.com today. I'm now the envy of everyone I know. lol

Anyway, I really hope Stuckey is as amazing as everyone is saying he is. I mean, I don't want him to overshadow any of the other young boys but I wouldn't mind having a Rookie of the Year contender on our squad.

Only like 18 more days 'til GAME DAY!

I don't think Natalie is stupid, but in this case maybe a bit overly optimistic. Stuckey's not going to win Rookie of the Year. Durant and about 7 other rookies will be starting on their teams. Durant is going to be Seattle's go to scorer, and even if he is absolutely terrible he'll still average at the least 10 ppg. a likely guess is about 15. Stuckey's best case scenario is around 13 ppg, coming off the bench and sharing time with 3 other guards. Durant will get more boards, obviously with his height (not to mention playing time) and he'll get more assists and blocks. If Durant doesn't win the ROY, you've got Grizz Mike Conley Jr. to compete with, I think he will be a HUGE stud.

Sorry Stuckey, you seem great, but barring an injury to Chauncey or Rip you aren't winning the ROY.
