ESPN says the referee in question is Tim Donaghy

NBA referee Tim Donaghy is under investigation by the FBI for allegations that he bet on games that he officiated over the past two seasons and that he made calls affecting the point spread in games, multiple sources told ESPN.

Donaghy, a 13-year veteran of the league, is aware of the investigation and resigned from the NBA recently. Via ESPN

Just because he's the only one being investigated, doesnt mean he's the only one that does it. You all know that.

Finally Sheed gets his revenge! But if you think Tim Donaghy is the only one, you're wrong! I'm sure many other refs, in all sports, are playing this same game! They have so much power. I wrote up on this at www.clutch3.com Find out who's next!

Obviously if one ref can do this, any of them can. I'm glad they have the FBI on this one! The severity of his punishment should be one to prevent others from following. I think the best way to take this ultimate power away from the refs is to institute TV replays into the NBA. Each coach should get a set number of replay challenges that he can use per quarter.
How many NBA games are won by a difference of 10 or fewer points? How many times have we seen a foul called for a flopper or no call made where there was obvious contact, only to watch in frusteration as the replay is shown. Who cares if it makes each game 5-10 minutes longer?! Isn't it just another chance for quick commercials & a way to improve the intergrety of the game? We all know that the human eye isn't perfect, and if all of the referees have to agree the final call once it's been reviewed you weed out bias from refs that have an agenda.
ALSO, if Coaches have this option there will be less arguing and flaring tempers which the NBA tried to get rid of with the zero tolerance policy this year. It's a totally backwards method if you ask me. Why try to get rid of the result of the problem instead of getting rid of the problem itself?
