Pistons Come Up Short Against The Rockets

The Pistons started the game off sluggish and it stayed that way until late in the fourth quarter when Detroit tried to mount a comeback. The Rockets, who were pummeling the Pistons for three and a half quarters, let the Pistons mount a rally late in the fourth to cut the lead from 20 to 3 points. The Rockets held on to the lead and beat The Pistons 91-85.

Key Points:
  • Chauncey and Rip, who were both ailing, started the game.
  • The Pistons couldn't hit the side of a barn in the first half.
  • The Rockets led the Pistons 16-2 at the six minute mark in the first.
  • Detroit shot 40% from the floor.
  • Sheed got into early foul trouble and barely played in the first half.
  • Pistons had no answer for Yao, who scored a game high 27.
  • Chauncey was just 5-for-14 in his return, but his late fourth quarter 3 pointer helped the Pistons add to their comeback.

  • Delfino and Flip Murray were both on the floor in crunch time at the end of the game.
  • Delfino also hit a key 3 pointer that helped the Pistons mount a comeback, but his late game drive that was blocked by Yao really hurt. Everyone knew he should have kicked the ball out, rather than take the layup over Yao.
  • Tayshuan played 29 minutes and went 4-for-10 for 8 points.
  • Webber played just 26 minutes for 6 points.
  • Antonio McDyess led the Pistons with 16 points.
  • Dice had a mean block on Yao late in the fourth. The play would have been pivotal, had the Piston won the game.
  • Detroit really played awful, it was hard to watch for most of the game. They honestly didn't deserve to win this one.
  • Sheed looked frustrated most of the game. He was 5-for-11 for 13 points with 9 rebounds and a blocked shot.

  • The Pistons had just 6 turnovers.
  • Rip and Chauncey were T'd up.
  • Maybe Rip should have sat this one out. He looked like he could use a rest.
  • Detroit out rebounded Houston 44-43.
  • Even though the game ended close, this one was a blowout for most of the game.
  • Houston went to the line 10 more times than The Pistons.
  • If the Pistons play like this against The Spurs, they are in trouble.

Pailful alright. It was like watching the Heat game all over again.

Seemed like there is a cloud of injury worries or something hanging over the Pistons play.

why do they always come back in the last like, 5 minutes?! they know that you can come back from a 20 point deficit in the last few secs in the game and actually win! hopefully that was only a warm-up for today. they seriously need to win. i can just feel the cavs breathing down our necks and i dont like it. i know it doesnt REALLY matter, but i REALLY want that number one spot and so do our boys.
