Pistons hold off Bobcats at the Palace

The Pistons made it five straight as they beat the Bobcats 104-95 at the Palace Friday night. Richard Hamilton scored 26 and Tayshaun Prince added 21, while Rasheed Wallace was one rebound away from another double-double with 19 points and 9 rebounds.

Tayshaun Prince held rookie Adam "Dirt" Morrison to just 13 points. The Pistons did just what they set out to do, frustrate Adam on both ends of the floor. While on offense he had the long Prince stuck to him like glue and on the other end he had to defend him. It was not Adams best showing but he seems to be the lone rookie that is standing out of this year's draft class. His look on the other hand is still a puzzler.

Although a sloppy third quarter kept the Pistons from pulling away, the Bobcats lead early in the fourth quarter. The Pistons took the lead 84-82 with seven minutes left in the game and never looked back. Delfino was a big part of the fourth quarter surge with all six of his points coming in a two minute span when the Pistons pulled away for good. Not only was he a offensive spark he also did a great job defending Morrison.

Flip Saunders had this to say after the game about Delfino's play.

The Pistons have another back to back tonight in Washington against the Wizards. The Pistons are going to have to be firing on all cylinders to beat the Wizards, who are desperate for a win, on their home court. And if anyone's counting, the Pistons are now tied with the Cavs for first place in the central division.

I was not able to make it to the game as I had work to do but I was able to have to box score up on my desk and I have to say i was bittng my nails a bit. I am quite sure why prince is not starting in the four, I mean ya he didn't play very well in the third but the pistons were tied going into the fourth and couldn't seem to billed the lead that is until Tayshaun was brought back in to the game. He picked up an assist of a delifino rebound, than another one off a billups miss and a wallace rebound than he made a shot than he got a rebound off a bobcat miss shot, this out then up 6 and they never lost the lead for the rest of the game. He also went on to make another shot before the game was over. I seen him sit at the start of the fourth before and than come in and the game would be close and the pistons take the lead I just don;t understand why he is sitting in the fourth so much.

Besides all that if it even made any sence to anyone the pistons played well, Delfino is playing hard hope he keeps it up.

Also we are one win from taking out spot at top of the div. with one more cle lost sicne they lost last night. The Magic are on top I am happy to see it.

I am not sure why Tay was sitting for so long. One reason may be because Saunders wanted to reward Delphino with more time, another may be because Tay was going to come in as PF and needed a few extra breaths. I don't know--we are used to seeing him log a whole lot of minutes so I think Saunders is making a concerted effort to sit him more. I agree that it is tough watching him sit--not only because he scores but he always takes the toughest defensive assignment.

I wonder if somewhere in the back of bens head he is thinking I should have stayed with the pistons at least than I would have a better chance with getting another ring. Ya ben played well for us and was a ig part of our team but I think it was the team Joe built that made him so good. Our four are starting to play well like the pistons we are used to and they have began to overcome the lost of ben. I think that each one of the orginal 5 play well together but they games are not as great when they go on there own. WEll I think Tayshuan maybe the only one that would still do well on his own because he does well carrying the team now but than maybe not it could just be because of who he plays with. I really think that Joe knoes what he is doing.

Also it is hard to see Tay sit but the sheedabides you have a good point with him playing PF and needed to get the rest it is a long season. As well I want to say Mohammed played well but he did still sit a lot even with the way he ws playing.
